Monica Evans joined FOX 4 as a general assignment reporter in September 2005 after working as a freelance reporter for almost a year.
Monica began her broadcasting career in the mid-1980’s while she was still in college.
Her first job in television was operating a studio camera at WFSB in Hartford, Connecticut. She also tried the world of radio as a weekend anchor/ reporter for WKND in Windsor, Connecticut. Monica jumped back to television as a talk show host and producer for Connecticut’s NBC affiliate WVIT, and served as the chair of their television production board “What About Woman”. She was still in college and the youngest person to hold such a position at that time.
As a court and crime reporter at WGGB-TV in Springfield, Massachusetts, Monica covered numerous exclusive stories including an on-camera murder confession. She then gave up the gloom and doom of crime reporting to become the first Arts and Entertainment Reporter for Connecticut’s FOX affiliate WTIC-TV.
Monica has a bachelor’s degree in communication from Central Connecticut State University.
Monica has lived in the Kansas City Metro since 1998. Having worked in television most of her career, she tried her hand at public relations here in Kansas City at Allstate Insurance Company and Sprint. While she loves the strategy behind PR and event planning, the rush of breaking news was no competition to writing press releases, corporate speeches and answering media requests. That’s how FOX 4 News was able to lure her back into broadcasting. You can see Monica Monday-Friday on FOX 4 News at 5 and 6 p.m.
In her spare time, Monica enjoys cooking, live music, comedy, art, golf and traveling. While she misses the coast line of Connecticut, she loves Kansas City’s family friendly atmosphere.
Monica, her husband and three children live in Johnson County.
