Jason Lamb joined FOX 4 News in August 2002. He spends his Saturdays and Sundays at FOX 4 following the stories and the games that matter the most to Kansas City sports fans.
Most normal people who have grown-up jobs go back to work on Monday. Jason looks forward to Mondays because it’s the beginning of his weekend. If you ever see him out and about town, he’s always wearing a ball cap — because he looks good in a cap and because he is follicularly-challenged.
In Jason’s 17 years covering sports in Northeast Kansas and the Kansas City metro, the Chiefs have made it to the playoffs six times, but they haven’t won a postseason game since 1993. The Royals have had just one winning season, but he still loves going to the ballpark. He has covered a couple of KU NCAA Final Fours. He raced around Kansas Speedway in an IndyCar two-seater driven by Davey Hamilton, and he rode along with Carl Edwards in the front seat of a Ford Mustang. He even worked in a pit crew during one of NASCAR’s Sprint Cup races at Kansas.
Jason has had the pleasure to meet and visit with many of Kansas City’s sports icons. But what he enjoys most is covering and promoting high school sports.
Jason grew up in Great Bend, Kan. (Class of ’90). He graduated from KU in the spring of 1995. He worked at Topeka TV stations WIBW and KTKA before coming to FOX 4. He and his wife Amy have an ornery son. Jayce is a third-grader at St. Joseph School in Shawnee, Kan.
