
Chris Searcy joined the FOX4 news team as a reporter in August of 2020.
Before coming to Kansas City, Chris was a reporter and a show host at WAKA, the CBS and ABC affiliate in Montgomery, Alabama. Chris worked at WAKA for two years where he starred in a morning segment called “Good Morning Chris” and covered stories that helped inform the community.
During his time at WAKA he covered stories that got nationwide attention. He covered U.S. Representative John Lewis’ final pilgrimage to the Edmund Pettus Bridge before his passing, the deadly tornadoes that claimed 24 lives in Wetumpka, Alabama, and a hazardous chemical spill on a busy Greenville, Alabama interstate.
An Alabama native, Chris attended Auburn University at Montgomery where he graduated with a Bachelor’s in political science. Chris held several positions in his college’s Student Government Association. He was class president, senator, and chief justice. He continues to be an ambassador for his university.
Chris is a debate enthusiast. He competed throughout high school and college and was awarded the title of top debater in the state of Alabama in 2013. He is an avid sports fan, and he loves music.
He and his wife are parents of a beautiful 2-year-old daughter.
