Christel Bell joined the FOX4 Kansas City family as an evening anchor in August 2020.
A native of Houston, Texas, she knows a thing or two about some good ole’ barbecue. (So please tell her the best BBQ spots in town!) She is so grateful to call Kansas City home.
Christel had a “sneak peek” at her future when she was as child. She fell in love with broadcast news. Her father worked nights, as a custodian at a local television station, and it was nothing but joy and excitement when she was able to tag along with Dad at work to experience the “behind the scenes” of the newsroom.
Now, she is an Emmy-nominated journalist with more than 13 years in the news industry.
She earned her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Houston and is currently studying for her Master’s in Communication at Webster University in St. Louis.
She has traveled to various events across the nation as a motivational speaker. She has also hosted and emceed numerous fundraising events throughout the years for non-profit organizations.
Christel is so passionate about her community and people. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Neighbor to Neighbor non-profit organization and provides mentoring guidance for area youth programs.
She says, “In order to tell the stories of the community, I have to be part of the community. That is the only way I can be a voice for the people who live here.”
Christel is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, good car karaoke, and traveling.
She is married to Stephen. He’s the reason she has such a cool “on-air” name, and they have a wonderful daughter who is 4 and full of personality.
