Four-Year-Old Shot in Drive-By Shooting Taken Off Life Support

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The family of four-year-old Aydan Perea, who was shot in the head Saturday night during a drive-by shooting, has taken him off life support.

Family members tell us the bullet caused major damage to his brain, and after doing one last cognitive test early Tuesday morning, they made the heartbreaking decision to let him go.

Family members tell FOX 4 that Aydan and his father were visiting relatives Saturday night at a house at 24th and Denver on Kansas City’s east side.  That is one of the hot spots identified by Kansas City, Mo., police for the high number of violent crimes in that area.

His father had just put Aydan in his car seat when a gunman pulled up to the house and opened fire, hitting the four year old in the head.

“My baby was shot in the head,” Lindsey Connor, Aydan’s mother, said.  “We need justice.
I don’t even know what to do. I’m just begging that somebody please help us find this person because it isn’t fair that he can stay on the streets.  If it’s my child, it could be anybody else’s child.”

Call the TIPS Hotline at (816)474-TIPS (8477) if you have information that can lead to an arrest.

The pictures in this album below were given to FOX 4 by Aydan’s mother in the hopes that they would help bring justice to her son’s case.
