Keeping Spooky Halloween Costumes Safe, Fun

The spookiest night of the year is fast approaching. While we want all the Halloween candy and costumes to be fun, the holiday can also pose dangers to our kids.  Meg Fuehne, from the Family Conservancy, gave us some tips on how we can keep our kids safe while trick-or-treating.

Tips:
-Select masks that don’t block vision or breathing
-Be sure costumes fit well to avoid trips and falls
-Try to work reflector strips into child costumes
-Make sure costumes are flame-retardant
-Swords, knives, and other props should be short, soft and flexible
-Pre-test any makeup by applying a small amount ahead of time for allergies or irritation
