Some people just don’t like to eat left overs. Whether it’s food they made or food brought home from a restaurant, day-old food is just unappetizing to some.
But now a new app lets you find hungry strangers to give your uneaten food to — or if you’re in search of a dish, you can find someone’s left-over meal with a few taps of your finger. Sound crazy? Keep reading.
It’s called “Leftover Swap,” and it’s exactly what you think it is. People swap their left over food. After taking a picture of their half-eaten dish, they post it to the app. People can arrange to pick it up or have it delivered.
What did FOX 4 Facebookers have to say about this new invention? See below.
Facebook Shad Reber sprinkled his comment with a dose of sarcasm:
It’s my prediction that Leftover Swap is really just a tongue-in-cheek attempt to bring awareness to the amount of food wasted in America.
According to the creators, 40 percent of the food we produce in America goes to waste. Seventy percent of us are overweight while 16 percent of Americans lack enough food for a healthy lifestyle.
The app is currently under construction but people can sign up to be the first to hear when it becomes available — if that ever happens.
UPDATE: After posting this story we received the following tweet from the LeftoverSwap Twitter account.
Although flattering, you can forget the gorgeous smile part, just know the creators of the app say it’s the real deal. So… bon appetit!
