THE LAST STAND (R)
RUSS: Well, he said, “I’ll be back,” and Arnold Schwarzenegger is true to his word, now appearing in his first starring role since 2003’s “Terminator 3.”
SHAWN: Yep it’s like Michael J. Fox pulled up in his DeLorean and magically transported me back to the eighties. “The Last Stand”is vintage Arnold.
RUSS: The Governator plays a small town Arizona sheriff out to stop a Mexican drug lord who has escaped from the FBI in a souped-up Corvette.
SHAWN: “The Last Stand” is fun to watch. An over the top no brainer with some really cool action sequences and terrific dumb dialogue.
RUSS: While it’s mindless, silly and ultra violent, “The Last Stand” is suitably action-packed. “The Last Stand” may please fans of cinematic mayhem who are willing to turn off their brains for a couple of hours.

SHAWN: 3 Popcorn Bags
RUST AND BONE (R)
RUSS: Oscar-winning actress Marion Cotillard stars in “Rust and Bone,” and odd French romantic drama.
SHAWN: It’s very odd. And really doesn’t get interesting until the last 20 minutes.
RUSS: Cotillard plays a marine amusement park trainer who loses her legs when a killer whale turns on her. She begins an unlikely romance with a semi-pro kick boxer who shows her no pity…which is exactly what she needs.
SHAW: Nice chemistry. Better sex scenes. But I hate sub-titles. So I was distracted.
RUSS: While it is well acted and has moments that are sometimes poignant, “Rust and Bone” meanders aimlessly. Still, it manages to pull it together for a satisfyingly sentimental finale.
SHAWN: This is one of those movies that you can wait to view at home.

SHAWN: We do recommend a couple of movies still in theaters that have serious Oscar buzz…
LIFE OF PI (PG)
RUSS: Although the 2001 bestselling novel was thought to be unfilmable, thanks to recent developments in cinematic technology and a daring filmmaker named Ang Lee, “Life of Pi” is a visually stunning and absorbing movie experience. It’s both and exciting and ripping yarn and a thoughtful exploration of spirituality that’s worth seeing in 3D.

DJANGO UNCHAINED (R)
SHAWN: Quentin Tarantino’s latest, “Django Unchained” is violent and bloody but the best movie about slavery ever. The whip smart screenplay has already won a Gloden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award.
