CUPERTINO, Calif. – Consumers who have safety concerns about USB power adapters for Apple products including: iPhone, iPad and iPod, can exchange them a retail store starting August 16.
Apple announced on Tuesday that one replacement adapter may be purchased for $10. This development comes after a Chinese woman was reportedly electrocuted while talking on her iPhone 5 as it was charging with a third-party adapter.
Apple stated in a press release that consumers must bring the charger and corresponding hardware for serial number validation. The $10 special pricing only goes through October 18, 2013. The release also said they cannot verify the authenticity or safety of a third-party charger, but have set up the exchange to alleviate any safety concerns.
