Boston bombing victim shares story of survival

Boston marathon bombing survivor Kaitlyn Cates will always have scars. They will be reminders of the day she survived a bomb explosion along the race route. Cates said the most troubling memory is the moment she phoned her sister to say goodbye — just in case she didn’t make it.

Cates said she doesn’t want to remember the suspects, but instead the heroes at the scene and the hospital who cared for some many people — all strangers.

Cates admitted she will attend Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s first court appearance. She said she doesn’t feel hate, but wants to know what.

“I mean, you’re 19. What happened?” she asked.

Tsarnaev obviously didn’t answer that question, but on Thursday, new information was released that could reveal a motive.

According to Boston police, Tsarnaev made remarks about the bombing in a makeshift message found in the boat where he was captured in the backyard of a Watertown, Massachusetts, home.

Tsarnaev scribbled that the Boston victims were collateral damage as Muslims have been during war and that an attack against one Muslim is an attack against all of them.

The source added that Dzhokhar told investigators mainly the same details in a bedside interrogation at a Boston hospital after his capture.
