Monique Ransom and Omar Muhammad

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Prosecutors have charged a brother and sister with second degree murder and armed criminal action in the Dec. 6, 2013 shooting death of Eric Harrell.

Monique Ransom and Omar Muhammad have been charged in his murder.

Police found Harrell shot to death on Dec. 6 at his home in the 2500 block of Quincy Ave., in Kansas City, Mo. According to the probable cause, Harrell suffered gunshot wounds to his leg, stomach and head.

The probable cause also states that on the day before the shooting, Ransom, high on PCP, scratched Harrell in the face. Police responded and transported her to police headquarters. Police later transferred her to the hospital due to her being high on PCP. Later that day, Ransom reportedly refused to pay the cabbie who took her home and she was subsequently arrested again. When she was being released from police custody the second time, four detention officers reported hearing her say she was going to kill “Eric” and that she was “going to be back.”

The following day police responded to a shooting and discovered Eric Harrell dead inside his home.

According to the probable cause, Ransom went to Harrell’s home with her brother, Muhammad and her boyfriend Rufus Antwine. While Antwine was outside the home, Ransom and Muhammad reportedly got into an argument with Harrell during an attempted robbery and they shot him multiple times, killing him.
