KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Employment, personal income and population are all indicators that help a city’s economic outlook. The Kansas city Convention and Visitors Association is trying to help area restaurants increase their bottom line.
They’re also trying to help local charities. Restaurant week is underway. Dozens of restaurants throughout the metro are participating in KC Restaurant Week through January 29. Diners can get deals at several local restaurants as well as help Harvesters Food Bank.
“Ten percent of all the sales go to Harvesters for all of the restaurants that are doing this, they’re getting $1.50 for each lunch and $3.00 for each dinner,” said Ericka Wilson with the Beer Kitchen.
According to Harvesters, for every dollar donated the charity will be able to provide five meals to those in need. Ericka Wilson, the general manager at the Beer Kitchen so far, it’s going well.
“We had a lot of people come in and say that they actually come in just for restaurant week,” Wilson said. “We actually sold 21 lunches yesterday so that was kind of nice.”
Like Wilson, Clint Pitts, the general manager at Bar Louie in the Power and Light district says participating in Kansas City Restaurant Week will not only help Harvester but he’s hoping to pick up some new customers that will give him some repeat business.
“KC Restaurant Week has done a great job promoting this there’s flyers all over the community,” Pitts said. “They have a Facebook page and they even have a downloadable ap for your phone that could help you find locations that are participating.”
