California theft suspect allegedly spray-paints face to disguise himself from police

MADERA, Calif. — A California car theft suspect man allegedly spray-painted his face in order to hide from police.

According to a Facebook post by the City of Madera Police Department, Jose Espinoza, 23, fled from officers Saturday night after he was caught with a stolen vehicle.

In an effort to camouflage himself, police said Espinoza had spray painted his face black, however despite his best efforts officers were able to arrested him a second time.

“The camouflage was ineffective,” police wrote in a portion of the post.

Espinoza was booked into jail following his arrest.

According to FOX 4’s sister station, FOX 8, Espinoza was charged with receiving known stolen property, theft and unlawful taking or driving of a vehicle. His bail was set at $35,000.
