Cocaine conspiracy bust breaks up operation in Sedalia

Cocaine is an intense, euphoria-producing stimulant drug with strong addictive potential.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A two-year investigation came to fruition this week and resulted in 37 people being indicted for roles played in a $1 million cocaine distribution conspiracy. Termed ‘Operation Coin Collector,’ it focused on violent crimes and drug trafficking in Sedalia, Mo., where 23 of the defendants reside.

The defendants are being accused for roles played in six separate but related drug cases and some for illegally possessing firearms according to the United States Attorney’s Office. Multiple federal, state and local law enforcement agencies conducted a sweep on Thursday where 28 were taken into custody.

Five of the defendants were already in custody for unrelated charges and four remain fugitives. Multiple indictments state that the defendants allegedly conspired to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and/or 280 grams of crack cocaine. Weapons charges were filed against convicted felons.
