KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A string of burglaries in South Kansas City has led police to believe all are connected. Surveillance video shows just how the crooks broke in.

Using rocks to break the glass, they rush through the front of the store and begin ransacking the shelves. The pair grabbed anything from cigarettes to perfume. Kansas City police say this is the handiwork of small-town crooks who know the area well and are starting to get cocky.

“Seven in the last 10 days at convenience stores, fast food restaurants,” Detective Kevin Wear explained.

There were also two business burglaries police say are linked to the original seven. Discount Smokes off State Line & 103rd St. was a late night target. The thieves even had some businesses on rotation, hitting them twice.

Police say their scheme unfolded usually around one to four in the morning.

“It is kind of rare. It’s something he’s comfortable doing, he knows the area he knows how to get in and out quickly,” said Det. Wear.

The getaway cars are always the same, a white Dodge pick-up and a maroon Jeep. If you have any information that might lead to an arrest, contact the TIPS Hotline: (816) 474-TIPS.
