Man found dead near cemetery identified, possible cause of death released

PECULIAR, Mo. — The Cass County Sheriff’s Department has identified the man found dead near a cemetery on Wednesday as Forrest D. Fuller, 25, of Peculiar, Mo.

Authorities said they received a call around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday informing them of a possible body located in the 21800 block of S. Thorngrove Rd. in Cass County, Mo. Upon arrival, police discovered Fuller’s body in the area of Wills Cemetery. Authorities are investigating the incident as a homicide.

“It appears that Mr. Fuller had been shot, and at this time we have asked for the assistance of the Metro Squad,” Sheriff Dwight Diehl said in a statement released on Thursday.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Department said 10 teams of investigators are following up on information and evidence collected by detectives.

The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to perform an autopsy. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816.474.TIPS.
