LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — A 45-year-old woman was shot and killed by her husband Friday morning at a Lee’s Summit salon, police say.

The shooting happened around 7:39 a.m. Friday at the Sola Salon along Northwest Murray Road. The salon opened just a year ago.

Police say the victim, later identified as Chantille Truss of Kansas City, was an employee at the salon. Police confirmed Friday afternoon that the suspect, 51-year-old Paul Truss, also of Kansas City, was the woman’s husband.

He later took his life near Longview Lake. Authorities found him dead inside his vehicle.

There were several witnesses to the deadly shooting, Lee’s Summit Community Interaction Officer Carmen Spaeth told FOX4 Friday morning.

“Because of the witness information, they developed a possible suspect and a possible vehicle description,” Spaeth said. “And through trying to determine who that was, if that was the correct information, it led us to this area. Also, we had family members who had spoken with the suspect, which also helped us locate the suspect and speak with him.”

Spaeth said around 9:30 a.m., the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office alerted Lee’s Summit officers that they had located the possible vehicle and the possible suspect.

FOX4’s Shayla Patrick spoke with Deputy Raashid Brown who said the incident at Longview Lake ended with the suspect taking his own life. See her entire interview in the video player below.
