LOS ANGELES — The “Tate Nation” can finally rejoice, as Belton native Tate Stevens has won FOX’s X-Factor.
The country singer, who beat out thousands of contestants from across the nation, is the winner of a $5 million recording contract.
“This is the best day of my life,” said Stevens, clearly holding back tears after he was named the winner.
“Congratulations to you. You deserve this,” said X Factor judge L.A. Reid to Stevens. “I’m proud to work with you. I think you represent ‘X Factor’ really well, on behalf of myself and ‘X Factor’ judges, congratulations!”
Reid was Stevens’ “coach” during the final weeks of the show.
The former concrete worker defeated teen singer Carly Rose Sonenclar and girl group Fifth Harmony for the title in the finale of the FOX show on Thursday night in Los Angeles.
Over 35 million votes were cast by viewers following Wednesday night’s performances.
