KANSAS CITY, Mo. — We’re learning more about a woman who was killed and set on fire a week ago. The victim’s family says they hope police are able to find the person who is responsible for their loss.
Andrea Shields, 38, was a mother of six. She was a mother, daughter and friend to many. Shields’ body was found on May 14 near 19th & Brooklyn.
Mattie Carter says she knew Shields frequented the area. Then slowly, detectives started asking for DNA and the reality slowly started to sink in.
“I knew it was just a matter of time for them to call me and tell me that,” she said.
Arthur Hooks, Shields’ father, says he just wants some answers.
“I hope they find out who did this to my daughter because she didn’t deserve this,” Hooks said.
Friends and family say it’s hard to believe she’s gone.
“I am really stunned by this, I am really stunned, because I miss her, her laugh, her smile, she was a good person,” Carter said. “She didn’t harm anybody she just had
bad habits.”
