KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A father now has to plan a funeral for his 3-year-old daughter who was murdered along with her mother. On Monday, Damion White asked for the public’s help to find their killer.
Someone killed Myeisha Turner and their little girl, Damiah White, late last week in Turner’s home on 55th and Wabash Avenue. Police found Turner’s one-year old son alone in the house, crying but alive. Damion White said that 3-year-old Damiah was one-of-a-kind and mature way beyond her years.
He believes that’s why she was killed, while his one-year-old son, Denim, was spared. White said he’s praying for whoever did this to his daughter and the mother of two of his children, but he also hopes justice will soon be served.
As he clutched an old photo of the little girl, his voice quivered. The reality, he said, is still hard to accept.
“It was just tears. It was like, this can’t be true,” White told FOX 4.
White is the father of both of Myeisha Turner’s children, Damiah and Denim.
“I don’t know what he may have seen. I don’t know what he may have heard. I don’t know what the conditions that he was left in and the time length he was left in,” White said about Denim who home playing Monday night.
White called the little boy, now in his care, strong and brave.
“To survive in the conditions that he was left in, you know, and in the conditions that he was found,” White said.
White wants the city to know what was taken from him late last week.
“One of a kind. That was my baby, she was one of a kind,” he said about little Damiah.
She was just a toddler, White said Damiah was outgoing, smart, articulate and not afraid to speak her mind.
“She was the boss. She would tell her older brother what to do. She would tell her little sister what to do. She was very protective of not just Denim. She was protective of all of them,” White said.
White said he doesn’t know who would harm Turner or his child.
“I seen that woman, you know, blood, sweat and tears went into our children. She was just the mother of all mothers. She was just the best mother,” White said.
He calls those who know something but aren’t willing to speak up just as guilty as the person or persons who did this.
“I mean, we live in Kansas City. They’re known for not talking so yeah, I’m asking for help. This is my baby,” he said.
