A group of fishermen in Venice, Fla., made a surprise catch — a 12-foot hammerhead shark.
But she was injured. And pregnant.
The fishermen, believing the shark didn’t have the strength to deliver her young, stepped in to help. Together they helped her deliver about 20 baby sharks, all seemingly healthy.
The mother shark did not survive, but the fishermen said they’re grateful they helped save another generation of hammerheads.
