KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals are back home Friday night for just the second time this season. It is the first game since the news the highway shootings became public and just 24 hours after an arrest was made.
Many fans travel through “The Triangle” where most of the shootings happened, others came through downtown Kansas City where at least one was reported, but fans FOX 4 talked to Friday night had no worries since the suspect arrested Thursday night
Beautiful weather brought fans out early. Many showed up to tailgate before the game against the Twins and while baseball was at the forefront, some fans were well aware of what’s been going on.
“Even though I don’t drive to the triangle on a daily basis, I still thought about the highway shooter out there,” said fan Samantha Morris.
Morris and her friends watched the news Thursday night and felt better about driving to the game.
“It’s definitely put me more at ease now that someone’s been caught and that’s not going to go on anymore,” she said.
Tyler Moore is a Roeland Park resident who uses the highway to get to Royals games and before the news of the arrest, he too was worried. His concern was for his friends on both sides of the state line and their safety.
“It’s really concerning that someone like that was out there wanting to do harm and makes me feel a lot better he’s now caught,” he said.
A number of people FOX 4 talked with Friday were relieved. Even though there hadn’t been a shooting in nearly two weeks, they felt better after the arrest and charges.
