Great Plains SPCA rescues 33 animals from home

OAK GROVE, Mo. — The owner of a home located on Buckner Tarsney Road contacted animal control earlier today to have her animals taken away. Great Plains SPCA responded to the call and rescued 33 animals from the home. Great Plains SPCA staff recently arrived at the Independence Pet Adoption & Intake Center with the animals and have begun the process of evaluating each one.

Evaluation will continue today and in the days ahead. Among the animals brought in, staff at the center discovered that four dogs are in need of medical care.

The home from where the animals were taken is currently being foreclosed on and the owner of the home suffers from cancer. Authorities say that no criminal charges will be filed.
