Heart-to-Heart Helping Isaac Victims in Haiti

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Officials from metro-based Heart-to-Heart International says that they have staff on the ground in Haiti to assist in rescue and relief operations following Tropical Storm Isaac.

Officials say that the storm didn’t cause widespread damage in Haiti, but it did cause significant wind and flooding damage in the southeast part of the impoverished island nation.

Heart-to-Heart says that they are delivering relief supplies and providing medical aid to the affected areas. Officials say that it’s imperative that supplies and medical personnel are able to reach remote communities in the mountainous areas of Haiti to prevent the outbreak of diseases like cholera.

The organization says that they have kept staff in Haiti since the devestating January 2010 7.0 magnitutde earthquake that killed an estimated 316,000 people.
