KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating after human remains were found in an abandoned house near 54th and Wabash in Kansas City, Mo.
The discovery came around 12:45 p.m. Monday. Police said workers found what appeared to be a human skull.
When police went into the house, they found a skull as well as a decomposing body. Neighbors say the home has been empty for some time and say there was a fire at the house after the first of the year.
Police say it may take several weeks to identify the body. They will begin an autopsy to determine the sex and race of the person, as well as the cause of death.
