Independence police cruiser crushed during chase

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Four men are in the hospital and under police custody for slamming into an Independence police car Sunday.

An officer tried to pull the men over at 32nd Street and Highway 291 but they instead took off.

Officers pursued them while another officer prepared to lay down stop sticks at US 40 and Blue Ridge Boulevard.

As he stood outside his car the suspects plowed into his parked cruiser, barely missing the officer. Fortunately the officer is okay and was not injured.

So far no one has been charged in this case.
