ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles went down in practice Monday morning, and continued to ‘go easy’ on Tuesday morning when practice began at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph.
Jamaal had his jersey on and walked to the field without a visible limp Tuesday morning. He did some stretches and got on the exercise bike, but then left the field before practice was over.
On Tuesday, Chiefs’ head trainer Rick Burkholder explained Jamaal’s pain and prognosis.
“In a drill yesterday, he turned his ankle over. His ankle ligaments were fine. He had some pain on the outside bone of his foot. We did an x-ray. That was negative. There’s a tendon that attaches right at that spot and that’s what’s sore right now. That’s why we call
it a strain and today he’s sore up his leg. And that’s natural. You know we expected to see that this morning. He’s literally day to day,” Burkholder said.
Charles lost his footing during Monday’s practice. He wasn’t on the ground long, got up under his own power, and left the field – walking across the field, 30-40 yards to the medical tent.
