Kansas Officials Announce New Anti-Gang Program

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Kansas officials have launched a new program that they hope will deter young people from joining gangs.

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt and officers from the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office announced the program in Kansas City, Kansas, on Wednesday morning. Gang Free Kansas is a partnership effort between the Attorney General’s office and Kansas law-enforcement agencies, and officials say that the goal of the program is to educate and inform Kansans about the dangers of gang activity.

The program includes a website, www.GangFreeKansas.org, that includes information about how to talk to kids about gangs, how to report gang activity, and how parents can identify the signs that their children may be involved in a gang.
