KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Employees at Kauffman Stadium are running down their to-do lists. Everyone from the vendors, all the way to the player’s themselves are doing last minute preps for Monday night.
There’s a lot behind the scenes that lets games at “The K” go off without a hitch. FOX 4 took a walk through the stadium to see how they’re getting ready to make some more history.
The calm before the storm; 24 hours to go until nearly every seat in the stadium is filled. Vendors are filling their shelves, networks are preparing their stage for post-game coverage and fans are packing into the team store at “The K.”
“Show your team spirit! You gotta support your boys!” Natasha Murphy said.
“I haven’t seen anything like this ever! It’s ridiculous,” Nick Jisa said.
It’s what’s on the fans’ to do lists because when their team hits the field Monday, they don’t want them to see anything but blue.
“So the players know there’s lots of Royals fans in the stands,” fan Allison Dewitt said.
Pre-game preps at “The K” also include the opponent as the Baltimore Orioles hit the field for practice.
Outside, the Royals are leaving to rest up but stopping for a few autographs before.
“I’ve always collected autographs,” Cameron Washington said.
But this year is a little different.
“It’s very (sic) undescribable,” Washington said.
This year, Washington gets to bring his son Miles.
“This is a once in a lifetime type of thing,” Washington said.
On Monday Cameron and Miles will watch a once in a lifetime type of game and everyone from the custodial staff to the Royal’s themselves, are ready.
“Go Royals!” said Miles.
