KANSAS CITY, Mo. — It could become a lot easier for south Kansas City residents to catch the bus if a proposed new transit center gets the green light.
The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) is holding an open house on Tuesday to get a sense about how the community feels about the proposed Transit Center near Blue Ridge Boulevard and Bannister Road.
According to the KCATA, the proposed Transit Center would allow for connections between the Troost MAX Green Line, 28-Blue Ridge, 28X-Blue Ridge Express, 175-75th Street, 253-Raytown MetroFlex, and 296-Bannister/Hillcrest MetroFlex. It would also include real-time arrival information, shelters and bike racks, a Parking and a customer drop-off area, ADA accessible boarding platforms, landscaping, ample lighting, wider sidewalks and crosswalks.
If approved, the KCATA says that the new facility could be open by the Fall of 2014.
