KCMO Issues Boil Order for SE Side of City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Missouri Water Services Department has issued a boil order for parts of the southeast side of the city following a power outage at a pumping station.

The affected area includes the area of I-70 south to 87th Street and Blue Ridge Cutoff east to the eastern city limits, the department said in a statement.

The departments says that customers should boil all drinking water. Boil water vigorously for three minutes before using it to drink, cook or prepare food. Ice made with un-boiled water should not be used for drinking purposes. Disinfect dishes and food contact surfaces with tap water that contains one teaspoon of household bleach per gallon.

The boil order was issued following a power outage at the Blue Ridge Pumping Station, and is expected to be in place for at least 24 hours.
