Lenexa Man Charged with Murder of Wife

LENEXA, Kan. — A Lenexa man has been charged with murder in the strangulation death of his wife.

Dominic Camacho, 37, has been charged with first-degree murder and is now being held in the Johnson County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond in connection to the slaying of his wife, 35-year-old Leslie Ann Camacho, in her Lenexa home early Wednesday morning.

According to police, officers found the body after they were called to the home near 94th Place and Noland on Wednesday morning for a welfare check. Police say that the couple had separated and had talked about getting a divorce, and that family members were concerned for Leslie Camacho’s safety after she didn’t answer her phone.

Authorities say that they were not aware of any history of domestic violence between the couple. Neighbors say that the they were shocked by the murder.

“I know (Leslie Camacho) worked a job. She tried to support her family and was a good mom,” said neighbor Tyler Daven, who went to Shawnee Mission West High School with two of the Camacho’s children.

The couple’s three teenage children were staying at a relative’s house at the time of their mother’s death.
