INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — A 20-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the July 16, 2016, fatal shooting of Malik Barbour in Lee’s Summit.
Prosecutors believe Terrell A. Ingram fought with Barbour in the area of the 1500 block of SE Long Place. Witnesses said when Barbour got out of his vehicle, the gunman shot him, as many as six times. They say the gunman paused, then approached the victim and fired two more shots. The suspect then fled as a passenger in a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Police found Malik Barbour on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to court records, Lee’s Summit police detectives, talking to witnesses, identified the driver of the Jeep Cherokee. That driver said he took Ingram in his vehicle from the scene. Surveillance video from a Kansas City convenience store showed the driver and the defendant together in the same vehicle the day before the homicide. A witness who saw the shooting identified the driver and the defendant as the persons at the scene and the defendant as the person who shot Barbour. Police also found clothing that matched the clothing worn the night of the homicide by the shooter.
Ingram faces charges of Murder in the 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $250,000.
