Men Charged in Warrensburg Homicide

Reginald Singletary implicated Aiyad Abid in a murder-for-hire plot, but charges were later dropped against Abid. Singletary stands trial for the murder of William Blaine Whitworth.

WARRENSBURG, Mo. — Two men are charged in the murder of a Warrensburg business owner over the weekend.

Reginald L. Singletary, 27, and Ziyad T. Abid, 23, both of Warrensburg, were arrested and booked on first-degree murder charges in connection to the Saturday evening shooting death of 25-year-old William Blaine Whitworth at his Warrensburg home.

Singletary has been charged with one count of First Degree Murder and one count of Armed Criminal Action. His bond was set at $1,000,000. Abid has been charged with one count of First Degree Murder and one count of Armed Criminal Action. His bond is also set at $1,000,000. Abid was also ordered to surrender his passport and any documents allowing travel outside of the U.S. and his pilot’s license.

Singletary and Abid are both in custody in Johnson County, Missouri.

The arrests come after two days of investigation by the Major Case Squad, with includes investigators from Missouri State Highway Patrol, and police and sheriff’s deputies from Johnson, Pettis, Henry, Saline and Ray counties.
