SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Streets were blocked off by emergency crews in downtown Sacramento after a man’s body was found hanging from the exterior of an office building on Monday.
Firefighters tried to rescue the man, but by the time one firefighter repelled down to him, he had already died.
“He had two pieces of rope that were looped around his body in a fashion that at times is used in different military operations or in different free mountaineering techniques,” Marc Bentovoja, firefighter, said.
The man was found hanging from the seventeenth floor.
“The way that the rope was looped around him put him into a position where he was more in a seated position,” Bentovoja said.
Bentovoja told reporters there was “nothing to believe that this was a suicide,” and said it’s unclear how long the man had been hanging from the building or why.
The man’s name has not been released. Watch the video for more details from CBS Sacramento.
