Men Show Their Commitment on Father’s Day

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Father’s Day 2012 meant members at an area church made a commitment to be better husbands and fathers. The men did it front of thousands of people.

About 23 men took the stage at Sheffield Family Life Center on Sunday morning to make a promise. The men want to be better leaders in their homes by becoming better servants. It’s a challenge but in an eight-hour course on fathering, they’ve learned its about re-arranging priorities.

“God first, family second and who you are is third,” said Chuck Wolfe.

The resolution comes from the producers of the 2011 movie called Courageous. In the movie, a group of police officers protect the streets but sometimes neglect their own families. Tragedy brings the men together and causes them to prioritize.

Paul Dilauro went through the fathering course because he wants to be a better dad than his father was. The men in the congregation are responding to a higher call like the actors in the movie. They are committing to the challenge of leadership that being a dad always brings.
