MoDOT worker struck on I-49

GRANDVIEW, Mo. — A Missouri Department of Transportation employee sustained non-life threatening injuries Monday when his truck was struck by another vehicle.

Police said the accident happened around 10:45 a.m. on NB I-49 just before Main Street. The other driver — a 25-year-old woman — sustained injuries to her knee and was taken to the hospital. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Prior to the accident the MoDOT worker was repairing a concrete barrier in the far left lane that was hit over the weekend. MoDot had a truck in the first lane attempting to direct traffic to the center and right lanes when the car struck the rear of the truck.

The highway was shut down until about 11:30 a.m. No names have been released at this time.
