Mom Wants Custody of Baby Lisa’s Half-Brother

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The mother of one of Lisa Irwin’s half brothers wants him removed from the Irwin family’s home. It’s been more than a month since baby Lisa Irwin disappeared from the family’s home near N. Lister and N. Chelsea.

Rasleen Raim and Jeremy Irwin have an eight-year-old son together. Court records show Raim lost custody of the boy in 2008. Now, Raim is fighting to regain the custody she lost. Her attorney tells FOX 4 that Raim filed an emergency motion for temporary custody and motion to modify child custody.

Raim says she’s concerned about her son’s safety, comfort and piece of mind. Iriwin’s attorney Joe Tacopina says he’s not worried.

“To me it’s a little bit despicable for a lady who hasn’t seen her son in six years, is six years behind in child support, all of a sudden have an interest,” Tacopina said.

Attorney Mike Albano specializes in family law. He is not involved in the Irwin case, but he believes the boy’s mother will have a difficult time proving her case.

“I don’t see where he’s not been charged with anything, where no one has indicated that he is a suspect,” Albano said. “And no one has indicated that these children, the two step-brothers, that they are in any danger whatsoever. I think she’s going to have a long up-hill battle.”

Tacopina does admit the family is trying to get back to a sense of normalcy after the family’s life was upended more than a month ago.

“Their six and eight-year-old sons who have been displaced and in a whirlwind the last couple of months,” he said. “It’s in the best interest of the child to put their world back together as best they can as difficult as this is today.”

The attorney for Rasleen Raim says her client is not considering giving any interviews at this time. FOX 4 spoke to one of her family members who says they miss the eight-year-old very much.
