KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Are you living paycheck to paycheck? Wish you had more money in the bank? All this month, you can get help keeping more cash in your wallet, and the best part is it’s free!
Did you know nearly one out of every three people say they don’t have any extra cash at the end of the week?
April is financial literacy month. It’s also Money Smart Month in Greater Kansas City. Organizers say rich or poor, most people could be doing better. And that just because someone has money doesn’t mean they’re still living within their means or are without debt.
Experts say to get ahead make a budget. Write down everything you spend. Save, even if it’s just a few bucks a month. Also do not spend frivolously.
“Buying something you really don’t need. I know we live in a society where we all want what, we want now and there’s plenty of ways to get it, without needing to save up for it beforehand I would always encourage people that if there’s something you want, not necessarily something you need to create a savings plan to purchase that product as opposed to just going out and buying it on credit,” Mario Urquilla at Enterprise Bank and Trust.
There’s a free event for the entire family this Sunday, April 6 at sporting park. It’s called ‘$core Your Goals Financial Funfest.’ CLICK HERE to register for the FREE event.
