ST. LOUIS — A 33-year-old mother sacrificed her life for her daughter Monday in the parking lot of a drug store in south St. Louis.
The pair were walking in or out of a Walgreens when a 58-year-old woman in an SUV seemingly slammed on the gas rather than the brakes, jumped a curb and struck the woman, who push her 10-year-old daughter to safety.
The driver of the SUV swerved to avoid hitting a pillar but hit Colleen Segbers, pinning her between the pillar and the SUV. Segbers was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver sustained minor injuries as was treated at the hospital. The girl was not injured.
