MU/KU Rivalry Featured on ESPN

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Cable sports network ESPN turned the spotlight on Columbia, Mo., on Saturday morning. They profiled the beginning of the end of the Big 12 rivalry between MU and KU.

The majority of MU fans arrived at 5 a.m. on Saturday to pick the perfect seat in the backdrop of ESPN GameDay. The network picked the matchup back in August long before MU announced it was leaving for the SEC.

ESPN College GameDay spent two hours focusing on the Tigers success and their conference rivalry with the Jayhawks.

“We are like Israel and Palestine we hate each other so much,” MU fan Steve Connor.

Specks of crimson and blue started to appear in the midst of the black and gold.

Both sets of fans don’t agree on much except maybe a renewed rivalry out of conference.

“Look at Florida & Florida State. Look at South Carolina & Clemson, they’re out of conference rivalries,” said KU fan Jason Zerrer. “It’s done throughout the country. There is no reason why it can’t continue.”

The rivalry will continue for at least one more game across the border for the final Big 12 match up.

The ESPN crew will return to Columbia at 7 p.m. Saturday to kickoff their coverage of the final game played  at Mizzou between KU and MU.
