KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police are trying to solve the murder of a Kansas City mom. Nikita Boston was shot to death when she pulled into her driveway on the city`s east side. Boston’s grief-stricken family is now praying for an arrest.
Family members say she was a loving mother of two young boys, extremely caring and didn’t have any known enemies. For those reasons, her family is baffled and cannot understand why anyone would want to hurt her.
Police say around 11 p.m. on Wednesday night the 36-year-old year old mom drove into her driveway outside her home near East 66th and Troost.
Within minutes, neighbors say they heard several gunshots. Officers arrived and found Boston dead in the driver seat. Her vehicle was riddled with bullet holes and the car lights were still on.
Relatives say the night Boston was killed, her 6 and 10-year-old sons weren`t home, they were with their dad.
“She came home to go in her house to get ready for work the next morning, but she couldn`t do that. She didn`t even make it out of her car, so yes that was cowardice to me,” said cousin Delores McMurray.
“She was energetic. She was always happy. She was always willing to help everybody else. She was a team player,” said Emily Matlock, Boston’s supervisor at Validity Screening Solutions.
For the last nine months, Boston worked there as a client relations specialist. The Overland Park company does pre-employment background checks.
Relatives say in less than two weeks, Boston was looking forward to celebrating her 37th birthday. If you know anything that will help lead to an arrest in this killing, call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
