BATTLEFIELD, Mo. — Forced budget cuts are hurting lots of federal programs. National parks across the country are feeling the effects.
Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield located near Springfield, Mo. is one of those parks.
“What I do is a cut seasonals and I cut programs that are important us, but we have to keep the people that are here on fixed costs first. That’s just the way life is right now,” said Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield’s Ted Hillmer.
The park service at the battlefield needs to cut 16 jobs, because of the tightened budget.
It is hoped volunteers can help pick up some of the slack.
