KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A new website that helps drivers find out if their vehicle has been recalled and needs work will launch on Wednesday.

In the past year alone millions of vehicles have been recalled for everything from faulty ignition switches to dangerous airbags. There’s been so many vehicles recalled it’s hard to keep track.

Well, now the new website SaferCar.gov ability to check for automotive recalls.

The national highway traffic safety administration is behind the free website. It says owners don’t always know if their recalled vehicle still needs to be repaired. The site can also be used by drivers looking to buy used cars to make sure the car they’re considering buying is safe.

All you have to do is put in your vehicle identification number (found near the windshield or on the inside of the driver’s door near the latch) to get results. You can also file a vehicle safety complaint, look at crash test and tire ratings and get maintenance tips.
