KANSAS CITY, Mo. — It’s been two weeks since a woman died after falling out of a party bus into traffic on Interstate 35.
The Kansas City Star has reported that the Midnight Express Party Bus was operating illegally at the time of the accident.
Jamie Frecks fell out of the bus through a pair of double doors during a bachelorette party. She was hit and killed by three vehicles on I-35.
The newspaper said the bus did not have a U.S. Department of Transportation number, which Kansas law requires.
The Kansas Highway Patrol and federal transportation officials are investigating the accident. The patrol is sharing its findings with Wyandotte County prosecutors, who will decide whether criminal charges are warranted, according to the Star.
