No more electronic copies of personal documents, says Gov. Jay Nixon

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — After months of controversy, the debate is over regarding the scanning of personal documents. Governor Jay Nixon signed republican-sponsored legislation to bar the Department of Revenue from making electronic copies of documents like birth certificates and passports.

State employees started scanning the documents in December.

Applicants are still required to bring in identification documents when applying for licenses like a drivers license.
