November is considered, by some, No Shave November, and the guys are taking part. They’re are on a mission to bring awareness to prostate cancer.
According to the Kansas City Prostate Cancer Foundation, approximately 220,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year. It’s one of the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States. In fact, one out of every six men will be diagnosed with the disease. Of those diagnosed, 29,000 will die.
But there’s good news. If treated early enough, there is a 99 percent survival rate.
FOX 4’s own John Holt is a prostate cancer survivor and advocate. He speaks frequently on the topic, urging men to get tested. Holt calls himself a good example of how screening and early detection can save lives, especially for men with a family history of prostate cancer. Holt will appear on FOX 4’s Morning Show- at a date to be determined – to speak more in depth about the prevention of a disease he fought and won.
