SHARON SPRINGS, Kan. — A parody video about new national school lunch requirements by the students and staff at a Kansas high school is gaining attention on YouTube.
The video, posted on September 17th, shows students in the Sharon Springs School District, and pokes fun at new lunch standards that call for more fruits and vegetables and less transfats and sodium.
According to a report from KWCH-TV in Wichita, the video’s producers, English teacher Linda O’Connor and district publications director Brenda Kirkham, the federal government isn’t meeting the school lunch needs of students – who they say aren’t getting enough to eat.
Federal officials say that the meals are healthier, and that kids just aren’t used to seeing fruits and vegetables on their trays.
