Officials pull man’s body from Hideaway Lake in Caldwell County

CALDWELL COUNTY, Mo. — Officials in Caldwell County, Missouri, pulled a body from Hideaway Lake on Friday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said they were called to the lake at about 8:50 a.m. at the request of the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department.

Marine enforcement troopers recovered a white man’s body, MSHP said. They didn’t release any other identifying information about the victim.

The agency said its Division of Drug and Crime Control investigators are leading the investigation; an autopsy is pending.

Hideaway Lake is off Highway 13, south of Highway 116 near Polo. Caldwell County is northeast of Kansas City.

Alisha Ross and her family watched out their windows Friday morning while as many as 15 officers rescued the man’s body that had come up to the dam area of the lake.

“It’s a little upsetting. Too close to home,” she said.
