Overland Park police investigate attempted child abduction

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Police investigators are currently seeking information regarding an attempted child abduction that occurred Friday morning in the area of W. 87 Terrace and Nall Avenue in Overland Park, Kan.

The 14-year-old victim said she was waiting at the bus stop when a white male in a black pickup truck stopped and told her to get into his vehicle. The victim refused and told the suspect she was going to call the police. The suspect then quickly left the area.

The suspect is described as a white male, possibly in his 50s, wearing a white T-shirt with a black logo on it. He had a bushy black and grey beard and wore wire rimmed glasses.

His vehicle is described as a large black truck, possibly a crew cab, with tinted windows, a trailer hitch, and distinct yellow (mustard) colored hubcaps.

The Overland Park and Prairie Village Police Departments will be providing additional patrols in the area.
